Hollfelder Emergency Care Center at Methodist Hospital
One of the most renowned features of Methodist Hospital is our state-of-the-art,
full-service emergency department. The Hollfelder Emergency Care Center
opened its doors in 2012 thanks to the generous contributions of Tom and
Bea Hollfelder. This new facility greatly improved upon our already impressive
emergency care services, expanding the main emergency department from
16 beds to 26 beds. The facility is staffed around the clock and outfitted
with 26 private rooms and advanced technology, equipping us for virtually
Fast Acting Team, Newest Technologies
Every minute counts in an emergency, our staff knows this and has been
trained in emergency procedures so that they can make fast decisions and
quickly provide patients with the services they need. A fast acting team
means very little, however, if the technical equipment can't keep
up with them. A critical medical situation cannot wait, so we have installed
state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment in the emergency department where
imaging studies can be processed quickly and treatment administered faster.
The Emergency department is also the entry point to our Stroke Program.
This allows victims of stroke, who require immediate attention, to receive
rapid attention from the stroke team. Other specialties of the facility
include the STEMI Receiving Center and Pediatric Care
Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP)
Treating an emergency for an infant, toddler, or adolescent requires a
unique set of skills. And EDAP designation is awarded to hospitals that
have demonstrated their capability in handling these situations. Research
from various health organizations like the National Hospital Ambulatory
Medical Care Survey has found that an astoundingly small number of U.S.
hospitals are adequately prepared for a pediatric emergency. Methodist
Hospital is extremely proud to have put focused effort into our emergency
pediatric care and ensure that children receive the critical care they
need when it counts.
If you are experiencing an emergency dial 9-1-1 immediately and request
an ambulance. For questions about the emergency department please call
