The Chest Pain Team: when minutes matter
When it comes to diagnosing and stopping a heart attack, the Methodist Hospital Chest Pain Team is one of the best in the country. Methodist Hospital is a dedicated STEMI receiving center.
Accessed through our around-the-clock, full-service Emergency department, the Team ensures that patients who complain of chest pain undergo an electrocardiogram (EKG) within 10 minutes. If evidence of a heart attack is observed, patients can be brought directly to the hospital's catheterization laboratory and undergo an angiogram, which pinpoints the location of a closed artery. When necessary, a balloon angioplasty or stent procedure can open the closed artery. Open-heart surgery expertise is also available if required.
The hospital offers a full spectrum of services, including screening and diagnostic tests, advanced medical and surgical treatments, and cardiac rehabilitation and education programs, including:
- Diagnostic services
- Coronary interventions
- Carotid stenting
- Peripheral interventions
- Open-heart surgery
- Non-invasive cardiology
- Non-invasive vascular laboratory services
Methodist Hospital is proud to announce that we have a Mended Heart program for our heart patients and their caregivers. Learn more about this exciting new heart care support group.
