10/31/2013

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ARCADIA – With $525,000 raised in support of Methodist Hospital’s cardiac services, Crystal Ball delivered another ‘legendary’ evening for well-dressed attendees at the Pasadena Convention Center October 19.

Motown legend Smokey Robinson presented a robust and nostalgic performance of his hits, proving that he is still the “King of Motown.” The 900 attendees at Methodist Hospital Foundation’s 24th annual black tie event also enjoyed fine dining and exciting auctions, both silent and live, during the elegant, Motown-themed evening.

Co-chairs Dr. K. Heiner Vogelbach and Christine Antonovich hosted the gala that honored long-time Crystal Ball supporters John and Jane Wuo. Cardiac patient Joe Pacilio was featured in a video about his story of heart-attack survival at Methodist Hospital.

The event’s success can be attributed to the dedication of co-chairs Vogelbach and Antonovich and their Crystal Ball 2013 Committee: Angela Y. Fu, Elaine Thomas, Stephen Thomas, Dr. James Y. Lin, Shawn Chou, Luyi Khasi, Cole Harris, C.H. Hsueh, Cindy Harris, Dr. Richard Sun, Evelyn Greathouse, Dennis Alfieri, Vivian Chan, Angel Chen, Linda Chen, Dick and Susan Hale, Ulanda Lee, Shelley Liu, Lindburgh McPherson, Mickey Segal, Ivy Sun, Angel Throop, Dorenda Wong, Susan Woo and Andy Zhang.

This year’s record-breaking eight grand sponsors included: The Honorable Mike and Christine Antonovich, Angela Y. Fu, Cole and Cindy Harris; Panda Restaurant Group, Inc.; Cherng Family Trust; Mickey and Lee Segal and Alan and Sandy Whitman; Andy Zhang; Chang-Huan (C.H.) and Haily Hsueh and Oceanland Service Inc.; Cole and Cindy Harris; and Golden Orchid.

Throughout its 24-year history, Crystal Ball has generated over $5.8 million dollars in support of such programs as stroke, emergency services, maternal child health center, advanced technology and innovative treatments for patients and The Next Generation of Care Campus Transformation at Methodist Hospital. This year’s proceeds will benefit the hospital’s catheterization laboratory.
