Outpatient Diabetic Education


Methodist Hospital offers educational services for people with Type 1, Type 2, gestational diabetes and hypoglycemia (impaired glucose tolerance).


Diabetes Management Classes

Patients are encouraged to attend Methodist Hospital's free Diabetes Management Classes. 

A Registered Nurse, Diabetes Educator, Registered Dietitian and a Physical Therapist work with you answering your questions and working with you to provide information you need to live an active healthy life.  All classes are held at Methodist Hospital in our classroom area from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. Topics of the Diabetes Management Classes include:
Eating and Diabetes
Exercise
Blood Glucose Monitoring
Medications
Prevention of Complications

This is a four week series that is held each month.  A special workbook is available to purchase to accompany the course for only $20.

Diabetes Support Group

Methodist Hospital also offers a diabetes support group that meets the fourth Monday of every month from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. at the Arcadia Presbyterian Church. 

Experts on diabetes lead a discussion of different topics related to the disease. Registration is not necessary, and attendance is free. For additional information on the diabetes education program, please call (626) 898-8788.

Gestational Diabetes

Methodist Hospital also offers our Sweet Success Program.
This program is to assist pregnant women who are diabetic and those who develop gestational diabetes.
