Maternal Child Health
Pediatric Care
The Pediatric unit cares for newborns and children up to 13 years old with acute problem, including respiratory, orthopedic, and surgical care needs. Care is provided 24 hours a day by a team of expert physicians and nurses with a specialized knowledge of pediatric care. All nurses have Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification (PALS) certification.
The Pediatric unit is on the first floor of the hospital and contains 13 beds in six rooms centralized around the nurses station. There are three private rooms. Methodist Hospital has over 30 of the best pediatricians available to care for your child.
Parents may visit any time, day or night, on a 24-hour basis. Other family members and friends may visit at parent's discretion. Accommodations are available for one parent to spend the night with their child; each patient room contains a comfortable fold-out sleeper for a parent to be close to their child.
Infants discharged from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and later readmitted to the hospital for non-intensive treatment come to the Pediatric unit.
