Methodist Hospital and the Crystal Ball - a history of philanthropic support
Over two decades ago, an elegant affaire designed to recognize hospital donors was held on the roof of the north parking structure at Methodist Hospital. With its popularity increasing each year, the Crystal Ball, now a fund-raising event, has become for many “the” social event of the San Gabriel Valley. Throughout its 23-year history, Crystal Ball has generated about $5.3 million dollars in support of such programs as stroke, emergency services, maternal child care, advanced technology and innovative treatments for patients, and The Next Generation of Care campus transformation at Methodist Hospital.
Crystal Ball 2012, “An Unforgettable Evening with Natalie Cole,” featured headline entertainer Natalie Cole, with nearly 900 guests enjoying an evening of fine dining, exciting auctions and dancing at the Pasadena Convention Center Ballroom. The event, co-chaired by Peggy Cherng and John Wuo, raised an impressive $475,000 to benefit the stroke program at Methodist Hospital and honored Dennis and Carolyn Lee for their many years of service.
On October 19, the Methodist Hospital Foundation will hold the 24th annual Crystal Ball, “An Evening with Motown Legend Smokey Robinson,” once again at the Pasadena Convention Center. The night promises to be another successful fundraiser and friend-raiser for Methodist Hospital.
