Methodist Hospital and the Crystal Ball - a history of philanthropic support
Over two decades ago, an elegant affaire designed to recognize hospital donors was held on the roof of the north parking structure at Methodist Hospital. With its popularity increasing each year, the Crystal Ball, now a fundraising event, has become “the” social event of the San Gabriel Valley. Throughout its twenty one year history it has generated approximately $4.8 million dollars to support such programs as the Emergency Services, Maternal Child Health Center, Advanced Technology and Innovative Treatments for patients, and the Next Generation of Care Campus Transformation at Methodist Hospital.
Crystal Ball 2011 featured headline entertainer Paul Anka “An Evening with Paul Anka” as nearly 1,000 guests gathered at the Pasadena Convention Center Ballroom to enjoy an evening of fine dining, exciting auctions and lots of dancing. The event, co-chaired by Mickey and Lee Segal and Christine Antonovich, raised a record breaking $515,000 to benefit emergency services at Methodist Hospital and honored Alan and Sandy Whitman for their many years of service.
On October 13th, Methodist Hospital Foundation will hold the 23rd annual Crystal Ball at the Pasadena Convention Center. This year’s celebration will honor Dennis and Carolyn Lee for their long time commitment and dedication to Methodist Hospital and our community. With the leadership of event co-chairs Peggy Cherng and John Wuo, this promises to be another successful fundraiser and friend-raiser for Methodist Hospital.
