Expanding the ED
Next summer, Methodist Hospital emergency department (ED) will be ready to serve the greatest health care needs in the community with increased number of patient rooms, mandated seismic requirements met and new equipment and processes. The ED will include 28 patient rooms and an 18-bed observation unit. New technology and information infrastructure will speed up patient registration and admitting processes and provide real-time tracking of patient status, progress, location and clinical information by physicians and specialists.
Each of the 20 new ICU/CCU rooms on the new tower’s second floor and four of the ED treatment rooms will feature new technology for improved patient care. The Maquet Modutec Ceiling Service Unit, a boom with two movable arms, allows the patient bed to be placed in different positions and features a large internal channel for current usage and future capacity requirements.
